Stress Point Week Nine {MAKING A DIFFERENCE}

When I posted last week's video blog, it was hours before Hurricane Sandy hit the Northeast. I had no idea the magnitude of the devastation that our area would experience. We were incredibly blessed to have no damage to our home or cars or even our block. The biggest issue was losing power but, when considering what so many others are dealing with, I can't even consider a power outage to be an issue. However, even for those who were as fortunate as we were, life as we knew it has been altered. Public transportation was affected and the gas shortage is a major concern. Never thought people would be waiting on gas lines for hours at stations with police offers or the National Guard standing by.

All that to say, once power was restored out here on Friday, I went to stay with friends for the weekend that way I didn't have to drive back and forth for meetings at church on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Now I'm back home and finally got to sit down at the blog.

I apologize for the change in blogging schedule for this theme but with this week's chapter in Stress Point is "Making a Difference" and, in light of the recent hurricane and the current Nor'easter here (it's snowing as I type this), I invite you to help make a difference here in New York.

A team from my church went to Staten Island this past weekend to help in relief efforts. The video is a glimpse of the situation there and how badly the communities were affected. As a church, we are focusing our relief efforts on the Staten Island area and have set up a fund specifically to assist the families there. The greatest need in this particular location is power so funds will help purchase generators.

If you are interested in making a donation to The Lighthouse Church's Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund, visit our website to donate online.

Feel free to visit this site periodically as the site will be updated as more information is received.

Many have been affected by Hurricane Sandy. Please pray for the people in need and spread the word about these relief efforts. In doing so, you will truly make a difference.

Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for Me.” – Matthew 25:40
