Saturdays with Sarah {LOVE AND DATING - PART 2}

Would you believe that I had this post ready to go yesterday (so I could have it up early) but never scheduled it?! Space cadet Jenn strikes again.

Anyway... Take 2...

Here we are at the end of our two chapters in Stress Point on Love and Dating. It's been pretty quiet out there, ladies! What did you think?

This half of our topic was more about when relationships intensify (as Sarah puts it) such as engagement or marriage. In this video blog, Sarah talks a bit about God-defined roles. What she shares in this vlog is not in the book and I appreciated what she shares. Once again, she emphasizes that this is not a chapter to overlook if you're not dating. For real, girls. I'm sure that our Love and Dating guest bloggers, Sarah Ortiz and Lindsey Zarob, would agree (which, by the way, weren't their posts wonderful?!).

The submission conversation comes up here. Now, you may be cringing at the thought of such a discussion and ready to click on another blog or sign back in Facebook but take a few minutes and hear Sarah out. First, because it is Biblical, and secondly, because she gave a helpful perspective on respect and submitting in a marriage.

Whether you are dating, engaged, married or not dating yet, I do encourage you to have someone in your life that you are accountable to. That may look different for each one of you because you all are in unique phases of your life. But when you make a major decision like the ones we covered here (and in all the chapters of Stress Point), it's so important that you have a person in your life who will give you godly counsel and who will pray with you as you seek the Lord for direction. Relationships are about more than updating your Facebook status, it's about your heart and honoring God.
So to have someone do life with you and pray with you on the journey is crucial.  I know I need those people in my life.

Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future. Many are the plans in the mind of a (wo)man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. - Proverbs 19:20-21

Our Friends and Family chapter starts tomorrow.
We'll talk more about that then...

For now, check out Sarah's video blog for Love and Dating Part 2...
