Saturdays with Sarah {FRIENDS AND FAMILY}

This past week we've had a look at Friends and Family in a variety of contexts. Maggie shared beautifully and transparently about her difficult upbringing. Because she went to the Lord with honest questions and an open heart, God was faithful to answer her. Intimacy.

Sarah speaks in this chapter's video blog about expectations in friendships, which is something important to consider as we evaluate the people in our lives ... and evaluate ourselves in the midst of those relationships. Our unrealistic expectations can often hinder the intimacy that we long for in our friendships.

As we look at the Word and at the questions posed, our self-reflection and meditation on the Truth is crucial, especially in regards to the relationships we have with people around us. It is not always comfortable because we don't always want to know the answers, do we? But when we honestly go to the Lord with our questions, and allow Him to search our hearts, we experience the greatest intimacy of all with our Eternal God who is our King, Father, and Friend. And the outflow of that intimacy spills into our relationship with others...

If you're having a difficult time making friends or if you are working through some things with family members, go to the Lord with your questions and concerns. (He knows already anyway!) As you turn your heart toward Him and seek His face, He will be faithful to meet you, to answer you, and to guide you down a path that would not only glorify Him but will bless you and your loved ones... a path of intimacy.

A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. - Proverbs 18:24
