The Battle is Raging

A few months ago I bought an album on iTunes, Love for Japan, which sent the proceeds to Japan after the March earthquake/tsunami. It has 34 worship songs for $9.99 with songs by Jesus Culture, Israel Houghton, Kari Jobe, Desperation Band, Planetshakers and others. I’ve been meaning to post about it for awhile now. It’s an awesome way to support Japan. We don’t hear much about Japan in the news anymore but that does not mean they aren’t in need of support as they rebuild their lives and their country.

As a result of purchasing this album, I heard a new song called “I Put On Christ” by Laura Hackett (from IHOP). This song is real and totally speaks to where we are as the church. The battle IS raging right now – in all of the earth. Natural disasters, human trafficking, poverty, disease, war, divorce, abuse, complacency, division in the church, financial distress, deception, addiction, rage, hopelessness, despair … the list goes on and on. Laura Hackett’s song is a spiritual wake-up call to the battle that truly is raging and the reminder that we must put on Christ. Daily. The battle is raging but it belongs to Christ. HE is our shield, our stronghold, our deliver. And He's given us His Word, the Sword of the Spirit.

I was able to find a video on YouTube that included the lyrics to this song. Check it out. It’s for every believer in Jesus Christ. Let it be our anthem. Let it be our reality.

Blessed be the LORD, my rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle; He is my steadfast love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield and he in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me. – Psalm 144:1-2

P.S. - If you have $9.99 to spare, go on iTunes and purchase Love for Japan and support our brothers and sisters in need.
