Dad's India Mission Trip

A little over three years ago, my Dad (Steve) had double knee replacements. His knees had gotten so bad that he was almost always limping and in pain. After years of medication, therapy, and cortisone shots, the time had come for him to make a decision regarding an operation. Although he was not looking forward to going under the knife (especially after having two major surgeries in years prior), Dad knew that choosing to do so would literally change his life because his knees had deteriorated. Two desires of his heart once he had new knees were to walk on a beach with my Mom (which he’s done several times) and eventually go on a mission trip. After years of waiting for the Lord to make clear where he should go, the opportunity for him to go on a trip has finally presented itself.

In February of 2011, Dad will be participating in a two-week mission trip to India. He will be joining a team from United Evangelical Mission International who will be visiting the following cities: Bangalore, Vellore, Ranipet, Agra, and Calcutta. The team will visit new church plants, preaching, teaching and participating in medical and eyeglass clinics. They will also go to children’s centers doing a VBS-type of ministry, visit a ministry for destitute and homeless women, and visit the UEM United Christian School, with over 500 students. Something that makes this trip particularly special to my Dad is that the trip leader is a former mentor and friend from his early years of ministry.

Please pray for Dad and the rest of the group going to India in February. His request is not just for what they can bring to this nation, but also for what they can receive from the believers in India. God is doing an amazing work there and he is excited about this wonderful opportunity. For those of you who have been involved in any sort of mission trip, you know the importance of prayer support. Please pray that God will prepare the hearts of every person going and the hearts of every person they will come into contact with. Also pray that the Lord will provide all that is needed. Some people have already committed to helping financially but there are still more funds to be raised. If you are interested in assisting financially, please feel free to contact me directly.

As the time approaches, I will be sure to provide updates. I love my Dad so much and I am very excited for him to have this amazing opportunity. I am confident that God is going to move in a powerful way and that many lives will be transformed as a result of this trip – in India and in the United States! Thank you for your prayers and support!
